WHAT DOES THE Sheriff DO?

The Fulton County Sheriff is the county’s chief law enforcement officer, responsible for:

  • operating and managing the County’s jails

  • ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of people incarcerated in the County’s jails

  • providing security for Superior Court judges and court buildings

  • escorting juries to the courtroom and protecting them from outside influence during trials
